Colour Day for Kindergarten - 9th July 2010

SFIS Kindergarten section was like a garden full of flowers on the Colour day... Pre KG children were so vibrant in Red, Jr. KG were all dressed up in Green and so relaxed like in nature and our Sr.KG was like the sky came down with all children dressed in blue.

Field Trip to Guindy Park - 22nd July

Guindy Park at Chennai is one of the favorite parks of our children at SFIS. On July 22, 2010 we visited the park and enjoyed seeing different kinds of animals and birds. All our teachers and students had quality time playing games at the park. We fuelled ourselves with our healthy snacks and returned back to school. The day was so fun and colorful.

Trip to Max Muller Bhavan - 26th July

Primary students visited the German Consulate (Max Muller Bhavan, Chennai) on 26th July for “Kinderbuch-Illlustration” programme. All our children enjoyed the art exhibit at the centre and watched a movie. They also enjoyed having an interactive story telling session with the members of the consulate. The children were given small mementos and gifts to remember the meaningful and fun day.

Independence Day celebrations - 13th August

In remembrance to all the freedom fighters we celebrated our 64th Independence Day by hoisting the National Flag and taking the National oath. The children were so enthusiastic to perform a skit with a message and a national integration dance show. Our KG children were so proud to sing patriotic songs. Sweets were distributed by our correspondent to all the staff and the children.

Banana Day - 17th August

At SFIS, we believe that all of us have responsibility to protect the nature. We have planted Plantain Trees, Sugarcane, Corn, Watermelon and even paddy inside our campus as a part of Eco club activity. As a fruit of our labors, we had banana day and enjoyed the organically grown fruit from our well maintained garden.

Break out 2010 - 21st August

As an event to bring out and encourage the children to show their talents at a very early age, we had our Second cultural meet “BREAK-OUT 2010”. It was a gala event. The children from our neighboring schools showed their talents with high spirits as our SFIS performed with full pride and honor. The campus was full of passionate and talented children with all smiles, certificates and prizes.

Teachers’ Day - 3rd September

Children showed their love and affection for their teachers by giving them flowers and cards. Teachers became students in the quiz program conducted by our student judges. Students enjoyed cheering their favorite teachers during other games. Our correspondent distributed sweets to all the staff and children and gifts were given to the teachers. It was a fun filled day for both staff and students.

Field trip to Chennai Port - 11th October

All the children from Grade I – Grade V were taken to Chennai Port for an educational field trip to learn about water transport system. They learnt all about the functioning of a ship and also had an exciting experience of sea voyage when they were taken into the sea for a ride in a tugboat. They also learned about the cargo ships and how sea trading was carried out in early periods.

Automobile day – 20th October

Learning happens not only inside the walls but also outside the walls in our school. Children enjoyed our automobile day by learning the mechanics of a four wheeler. Our little trainees had a good insight of all the tools used in a vehicle and they were excited to change the wheels of the car with the help of our drivers. They also had fun during wash n’ splash on the car and on their friends.

Dental Camp – 23rd October

Children need regular and ongoing preventive oral care and hygiene. To create this awareness we conducted a dental camp at our school campus and the oral assessment was done by Dr. Smilez Dental care unit.

Community helper’s Day – 2nd November

As an appreciation and respect to our community helpers we dedicated a day to honour them we invited a doctor, a policeman and a lawyer to have a discussion with the students. All our children made “Thank You” cards and sent it to the community fire station, Police Station and Hospital. The Q & A session was very interesting and our guests enjoyed the interaction with the children.

Children’s Day – 13th November

This day was marked with lot of activities and fun. The theme for the day was “Incredible India” All our students decorated their classrooms as different parts of India and named it as “Enchanting South; Mystic North; Magical West; Jewels of East”. Charts and models were displayed representing different states and delicious authentic food was arranged for the parents and students to taste. For the cultural part, children and teachers dressed up in different traditional costumes and danced for the music. Children were delighted to see their teachers performing South Indian Classical and a dance form of Rabindranath Tagore. Parents’ participation and support was the highlight of the program. Overall it was a big feast for eyes, ears and mouth.

Gardening day – 23rd November

As a part of our Life Skills program our eco club organized for a gardening day for the children to learn about maintaining a healthy garden. Our students made a vegetable patch in the school garden and also learned about how to use different gardening tools. They also enjoyed the nature with muddly splashes.

Field trip to St. Thomas Mount – 29th November

Picnic on top of the mountain on a nice warm day was filled with frolicking fun for our Kindergarten children.

PChristmas celebrations – 22nd December

Christmas celebrations went on for a week. It started from setting up a crib to making ornaments for the Christmas tree. Santa Claus visited us with lots of gifts. The day was full of music and dance with the choir.

Pongal Celebrations – 13th January 2011

Harvest festival was celebrated with the sweet pongal and sugarcane. It was a day when the children realized the importance of thanking mother nature.

Sports Day – 19th February 2011

Our first Annual Sports Day was conducted on 19/02/11 to release the capacities and physical abilities of the children and to build self confidence. We had theme based events for the Kindergarten Students and the Primary students got an opportunity to explore the life skills through variety of events. Our students also showcased their Yoga and Karate skills.

Annual Day and Kindergarten Graduation Day – 1st April 2011

Our Second Annual Day and Kindergarten Graduation Day was celebrated on 01/04/11. It was a wonderful and enjoyable evening for all parents who enjoyed their children dancing as little chickens and roaring as cute little wild animals. Grand finale was a musical by our primary students with a message to plant more trees to save “Our Earth”.
